There are no direct trains from Siena to San Gimignano. To get there, you can opt for a combination of buses changing in Poggibonsi, or bus and train. Alternatively, you can rent a car or join a guided tour.

To make the most of Val d’Orcia, you are better off renting your own car or joining a guided tour. Otherwise, it’s a matter of taking several bus connections to Pienza.
